What we are about:
David, Rusty and Charlie are all students in the Capstone class within Austin High School(more about us in the perspectives tab). This class is a service based learning class where the students break into groups, find an issue and find ways to fix it. Our group noticed the lack of funding within the Life Skills and Sped programs within our own school, as well as in schools across Austin. Due to our connection with Cowan Elementary, we decided to make a difference in the Life Skills and Sped programs there.
Our Goal
Here After asking what was needed within these programs, we found that they were in need of:
-5 Large Classroom Visual Timers
-15 Noise Reducing Headphones
-5 Weighted Lap Pads
-15 Chair Bands
-15 Texture Squares
-15 Stress Balls
-15 Fidgets
-15 High Interest, Low Readability Books
Here is the official Wishlist.
These items totaled to be approximately:
$1500.00
HOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
Because the way we are helping involves money, the easiest and most direct way to help is to donate. You can donate cash or checks to 1715 West Cesar Chavez Street, made out to Austin High and put Cowan Capstone Project in the memo line, or Donate to our Edbacker account on the button at the top of the screen.
